Standards for determining the cost of engineering surveys are grouped by survey type, while standards for design work are categorised according to the functional purpose of facilities. This structure simplifies the search for relevant documents and makes it easier to verify whether a particular standard is currently valid.
The main advantage is the ability to verify more quickly which standard and conversion index have been used in a calculation. This is particularly important when determining the initial contract price, preparing a commercial proposal, or substantiating the cost of work under a public contract.
However, the new section itself does not eliminate the risk of errors. It is still necessary to check:
- whether the selected standard corresponds to the actual scope of work;
- whether the specific conditions and complexity of the facility have been taken into account;
- whether coefficients and conversion indices have been applied correctly;
- whether a document that has been moved to the archive is being used.
Recommendation: together with the calculation, record the title and version of the applicable standard, the approval order, the conversion index used, and the date on which the information was obtained from the system.
This will help substantiate the cost of the work and reduce the risk of disputes with the client or the state review authority.
Digitalisation is truly valuable when it does not simply speed up the search for information, but also makes calculations transparent and verifiable.
