A Series of New Construction GOSTs Takes Effect May 1

Starting May 1, 2026, a number of new GOST standards take effect in the construction industry. These changes affect materials, facades, thermal insulation, landscaping, and infrastructure facilities.

Let's take a look at exactly what's changing and what specialists should pay attention to.

Important: GOST standards are applied on a voluntary basis (in accordance with Federal Law No. 162-FZ), unless otherwise established by technical regulations, sets of rules (SP), or contract terms.

1. Environmental declaration: new transparency requirements

GOST R 72599-2026

Title: "Environmental Declaration of Construction Materials and Technologies. General Requirements"

Who should care: manufacturers, developers, designers, and sustainable construction specialists

The standard establishes requirements for developing Type III environmental declarations for construction materials and technologies.

What this means in practice:

  • a unified approach to presenting environmental information emerges
  • declarations can be used to compare materials
  • such documents play a growing role in procurement and "green" projects

2. Facade structures: stricter installation requirements

GOST R 72481-2025

Title: "Installation of Post-and-Beam Translucent Facade Structures. Rules and Quality Control of Works"

Who should care: facade designers, contractors, construction supervision specialists

The standard governs installation procedures, requirements for the finished result, and quality control of the works.

Practical significance:

  • incoming material inspection requirements are tightened
  • compliance with the process sequence becomes mandatory
  • requirements for as-built documentation are raised

3. Silicate products: updated requirements

GOST 379-2025

Title: "Silicate Masonry Products. General Specifications"

Who should care: designers, procurement specialists, contractors

The standard updates and clarifies requirements for silicate masonry products.

In practice:

  • products must be checked for compliance with the new requirements
  • specifications may need to be adjusted
  • the role of incoming inspection increases

4. Thermal insulation: a unified assessment method

GOST 32493-2025

Title: "Method for Determining Air Permeability and Air Permeability Resistance"

Who should care: designers, testing laboratories, experts

A unified method is introduced for determining the air permeability characteristics of thermal insulation materials.

What this provides:

  • accurate comparison of materials
  • justification of design decisions
  • improved reliability of energy efficiency calculations

5. Recycled materials: expanding the regulatory framework

GOST R 72240-2025

Title: "Recycled Crushed Stone from Ceramic Materials. General Requirements"

Who should care: designers, environmental specialists, demolition contractors

The standard establishes requirements for recycled crushed stone obtained from construction waste.

Practical significance:

  • the regulatory framework for using recycled materials is expanded
  • justifying such decisions in design documentation becomes easier
  • the environmental agenda is supported

6. Paving mixes: quality standardization

GOST R 72241-2025

Title: "Dry Cement-Based Construction Mixes for Paving. Specifications"

Who should care: landscaping designers, contractors

Requirements are established for dry paving mixes.

In practice:

  • material selection is clarified
  • clear acceptance criteria are established
  • the predictability of pavement quality improves

7. Automated roadside inspection stations

GOST R 72576-2026

Title: "Weight and Dimension Control Stations. Design Requirements"

Who should care: road infrastructure designers

The standard establishes requirements for the design and placement of automated inspection stations.

Practical significance:

  • design approaches are standardized
  • integration into road infrastructure is simplified
  • variability in design solutions is reduced

What specialists should do

  • update the list of normative and technical documentation (NTD)
  • review current projects (facades, insulation, masonry, landscaping)
  • revise the scope of work (TOR), design documentation (PD), and working documentation (RD)
  • update requirements for incoming inspection and quality of works
  • inform contractors and suppliers

Summary

The new GOST standards raise the bar for material quality, the traceability of decisions, and the accuracy of technical documentation.

Particular attention should be paid to environmental declarations and recycled materials — these areas will develop actively in the coming years.
