Saudi Arabia continues construction of Oxagon — the NEOM industrial city built on floating platforms.
The project is currently undergoing optimization. The port and industrial zones are top priorities: the second phase of the port is scheduled for completion in the coming months.
The most interesting aspects of the project:
- Full integration of Industry 4.0 and 100% renewable energy sources — from robotics to autonomous logistics.
- Modular floating structures spanning over 48 km² — a serious challenge for geotechnics and marine geodesy.
- High-precision positioning: 3–8 cm accuracy at distances of up to 60 km — the key to platform anchoring.
- Marine surveys: bathymetry, seismic surveys, and wind-wave load calculations for extreme scenarios.
- Environmental modeling and sea-level forecasting — a mandatory part of the design process.
